Iron Mountain Inc., an information management and data center company, has agreed to purchase its second data center in Frankfurt, Germany, expanding its capacity in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Iron Mountain, which is headquartered in Boston, will pay the Singapore-based holding company Calcium DC Pte. Ltd. 76 million euros for the Frankfurt data center, Iron Mountain said in a recent release. The transaction is expected to close within 90 days after the completion of customary requirements.

“This latest investment in one of the most sought-after European markets further solidifies our commitment to invest in the global markets where our customers need us,” Iron Mountain Executive VP and General Manager of Data Centers Mark Kidd said in the release. “As a leading global data center provider, we are pleased to continue to meet the key growth milestones that this acquisition, and the recently announced expansion in London, represent.”

Located in the Am Martinszehnten Industrial Park, the new Frankfurt data center is a two-story, approximately 215,000 square-foot facility that will reportedly add an additional 10.6 megawatts of storage capacity for Iron Mountain. Additional benefits of the acquisition include the site’s close proximity to the city center and Frankfurt Airport, the company said.

“We are thrilled to be adding an additional data center in Frankfurt to our global platform, as it will meet the high demand we are seeing from our enterprise, edge and hyperscale customers in the Frankfurt market,” Iron Mountain VP and General Manager for Europe Eric Boonstra said in the release.

Frankfurt is an important global data center market as one of Europe’s major commercial and financial centers, the company said.

Founded in 1951, Iron Mountain is a global storage company for information management, digital information, cloud services and art storage and is tasked with protecting and managing information and assets, the company said.
