The World Trade Organization (WTO) has released its latest Trade Policy Review of Vanuatu. The review includes two main documents: an independent report by the WTO Secretariat and a policy statement from the government of Vanuatu.
These reports were discussed by the full membership of the WTO in the Trade Policy Review Body, which is responsible for examining and evaluating member countries’ trade and related policies at regular intervals. The reviews are required under WTO agreements and help monitor significant developments that may affect the global trading system.
According to the WTO, "Trade Policy Reviews are an exercise, mandated in the WTO agreements, in which member countries’ trade and related policies are examined and evaluated at regular intervals. Significant developments that may have an impact on the global trading system are also monitored. All WTO members are subject to review, with the frequency of review depending on the country’s size."
Vanuatu’s trade policies and recent changes were analyzed during this process. The purpose is to promote transparency and understanding among all members about each country’s approach to trade.
The Secretariat’s report was prepared independently, while Vanuatu provided its own assessment through a government report. Both documents aim to give a comprehensive view of how Vanuatu manages its trade commitments within the framework set by the WTO.
