JPMorganChase has appointed Todd Combs, currently Investment Manager at Berkshire Hathaway and CEO of GEICO, to lead its $10 billion Strategic Investment Group within the newly launched Security and Resiliency Initiative (SRI). The initiative aims to help companies grow, encourage innovation, and boost manufacturing in the United States.
Combs will collaborate with JPMorganChase’s Commercial & Investment Bank and Asset & Wealth Management divisions to identify investment opportunities across sectors such as defense, aerospace, healthcare, and energy. He will also serve as a Special Advisor to Jamie Dimon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorganChase, as well as the firm’s Operating Committee on strategic matters. Additionally, Combs will be part of SRI’s External Advisory Council.
Jamie Dimon stated: “Todd Combs is one of the greatest investors and leaders I’ve known, having successfully managed investments alongside the most respected and successful long-term investor of our time, Warren Buffett. Having served nine years on our Board, he truly understands all aspects of our company, and he supports the role we play helping make the world better and safer for all its citizens.” Dimon added: “I deeply value Todd’s experience, character and judgment, and we are honored he will be joining our team in this role.”
Combs commented: “As a member of JPMorganChase’s Board, I have seen up close the quality of the individuals who lead this firm and their commitment to always doing the right thing and helping communities around them. The SRI is a perfect example of this — committing $1.5 trillion to spurring economic growth and innovation to make the world more secure.”
Combs is set to join JPMorganChase in January 2026 after stepping down from his roles at Berkshire Hathaway and GEICO. He resigned from JPMorganChase's Board effective immediately upon accepting his new position. In his new capacity at SRI, he will report directly to Jamie Dimon while working closely with Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh (Co-CEOs of Commercial & Investment Bank), Mary Erdoes (CEO of Asset & Wealth Management), among other SRI leaders.
JPMorganChase also announced an external advisory council for SRI composed of prominent figures from both public service and private industry. Jamie Dimon will initially chair this council which includes Jeff Bezos (Amazon/Blue Origin), Chris Cavoli (retired General), Michael Dell (Dell Technologies), Ann Dunwoody (retired General), Jim Farley (Ford Motor Company), Robert Gates (former U.S. Secretary of Defense), Alex Gorsky (Johnson & Johnson), Paul Nakasone (retired General/former NSA Director), Condoleezza Rice (former U.S. Secretary of State), Paul Ryan (Solamere Capital/former Speaker U.S. House), Phebe Novakovic (General Dynamics) along with Todd Combs.
The advisory council will periodically meet with top leadership at JPMorganChase to provide guidance on strategy for SRI focusing on industries important for national security and economic resilience.
Jamie Dimon said: “We are humbled by the extraordinary group of leaders and public servants who have agreed to join our efforts as senior advisors to the SRI. With their help, we can ensure that our firm takes a holistic approach to addressing key issues facing the United States — supporting companies across all sizes and development stages through advice, financing and equity capital.”
