UBS is bringing the House of Craft x Dior exhibition to Asia for the first time, with a public showing scheduled from November 21 to 23 at the New Art Museum Singapore. The event follows its debut in New York earlier this year and highlights haute couture craftsmanship through a tribute to Dior’s history.
The exhibition is curated by Carine Roitfeld and conceived by Brigitte Niedermair. It features rarely seen items from the Dior Heritage archives and traces the evolution of Dior’s creative direction under various designers, including Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Kim Jones, and Jonathan Anderson.
A key feature of the Singapore edition is a dedicated room honoring Christian Dior with sketches and designs that reference Singapore. The expanded show also examines connections between Dior and Asia by displaying pieces where Asian craft techniques and silhouettes have influenced design choices.
Young Jin Yee, Co-Head UBS Global Wealth Management Asia Pacific and Country Head UBS Singapore said: “UBS is delighted to launch the Asian premiere of UBS House of Craft x Dior in Singapore — a key financial hub for UBS in Asia. Singapore’s edition, featuring new experiences — a dedicated room paying homage to Christian Dior with sketches and designs referencing Singapore — and a refreshed perspective on Dior’s evolving creative vision, represents UBS’s commitment to celebrating the pursuit of excellence and the mastery of craft. Just as Dior’s ateliers honor traditional techniques while pushing creative boundaries, we at UBS believe in balancing heritage while embracing innovation to help our clients achieve their ambitions.”
Brigitte Niedermair will present five new photographs alongside archival haute couture gowns as part of an extended photo series exclusive to this exhibition. Live demonstrations by artisans from Dior Atelier are planned to show how traditional craftsmanship shapes iconic garments.
A program of talks accompanies the exhibition. Nearly 50 students from LASALLE College of the Arts and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) will participate in an event designed to introduce them to opportunities within fashion. Other sessions include discussions between Roitfeld and Niedermair about their collaboration; Brigitte Niedermair exploring fashion photography's role in identity; Perrine Scherrer from Dior Heritage discussing archive preservation; and presentations by Marie Leroux and Yassin Kavak from Dior Atelier on specific couture techniques.
The venue for this event is New Art Museum Singapore, which is recognized as Southeast Asia’s largest exhibition space located near Singapore's Central Business District.
