Government officials from various regions attended a closed briefing at the World Trade Organization (WTO) to discuss developments in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital health technologies. The meeting, organized jointly by the WTO, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), aimed to give trade, health, and intellectual property attachés practical insights into how these technologies are being developed and used in different countries.

The three Geneva-based organizations work together on matters that intersect trade, public health, and intellectual property. Their collaboration seeks to provide evidence and data that can help policymakers use IP, trade, and policy tools more effectively for public health goals.

The trilateral briefing is part of a series of closed meetings for members. According to organizers, "This collaboration aims to provide fact-based evidence and data to assist policy makers in leveraging IP, trade and policy tools more effectively to achieve public health objectives."

The next event in this cooperation will be a technical symposium on antimicrobial resistance. The symposium is titled "Antimicrobial Resistance: Addressing the Innovation Gap, Access Inequities, and Supply Challenges" and will take place on December 11, 2025. It will be hosted by WIPO in a hybrid format and is open to the public.
