The World Trade Organization (WTO) has made available several documents as part of the latest Trade Policy Review (TPR) for Nepal. These include an independent report prepared by the WTO Secretariat, an executive summary, a full report, a policy statement from the Nepalese government, and concluding remarks from the Chairperson.

The Secretariat and Government reports are discussed by all WTO members in the Trade Policy Review Body (TPRB). According to the WTO, Trade Policy Reviews are required under its agreements and serve to examine and evaluate member countries’ trade and related policies at regular intervals. The process also monitors significant developments that could affect the global trading system. The frequency of these reviews depends on the size of each country.

"Trade Policy Reviews are an exercise, mandated in the WTO agreements, in which member countries’ trade and related policies are examined and evaluated at regular intervals. Significant developments that may have an impact on the global trading system are also monitored. All WTO members are subject to review, with the frequency of review depending on the country’s size," according to information provided by the organization.

The TPR mechanism aims to promote transparency in national trade policies and provide opportunities for dialogue among WTO members.
