The World Trade Organization (WTO) has released documents related to the latest Trade Policy Review of the United Kingdom. The materials include a report prepared independently by the WTO Secretariat and a policy statement from the UK government. These reports are discussed among all WTO members within the Trade Policy Review Body (TPRB).
According to the WTO, "Trade Policy Reviews are an exercise, mandated in the WTO agreements, in which member countries’ trade and related policies are examined and evaluated at regular intervals. Significant developments that may have an impact on the global trading system are also monitored. All WTO members are subject to review, with the frequency of review depending on the country’s size."
This process is designed to promote transparency and understanding of each member's trade policies, as well as to monitor changes that could affect international commerce.
