U.S. citizens in the Philippines have been advised to remain alert due to the anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks in Israel. The U.S. Embassy in Manila issued a security alert on October 6, 2025, urging heightened situational awareness and caution throughout the country.

The embassy stated: "Due to the anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks in Israel and out of an abundance of caution, U.S. citizens are advised to remain vigilant, maintain heightened situational awareness, and practice good personal security measures."

Officials emphasized that they will continue monitoring local conditions and will provide further updates as necessary.

The embassy recommended several safety steps for Americans residing or traveling in the Philippines. These include being aware of surroundings, avoiding demonstrations and protests, monitoring local media outlets for updates, following instructions from local authorities, and enrolling in the Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). According to officials: "STEP enrollment gives you the latest security updates and makes it easier for the U.S. Embassy to contact you in an emergency."

For additional information or assistance, U.S. citizens can contact the U.S. Embassy in Manila at +(63) (2) 5301-2000 during business hours or use this number after hours for emergencies.
