The U.S. Embassy in Bogota has issued an alert regarding a planned protest organized by the Pro-Palestine Committee. The demonstration is scheduled for today at 14:00 outside the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia (ANDI) at Calle 73 #8-13 in Chapinero.
The embassy stated it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if necessary. In its advisory, the embassy offered several recommendations to U.S. citizens in Bogota: "Avoid crowds. Be aware of your surroundings. Wear little to no jewelry and carry few valuables. Keep a low profile. Avoid using your cell phone in public. Do not physically resist any robbery attempt. Keep car doors locked, and windows rolled up. Monitor local news media for updates."
For assistance, the embassy provided contact information for its offices in Bogota and Barranquilla, as well as resources from the U.S. Department of State – Consular Affairs.
U.S. citizens are also encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for security updates and to follow official social media channels for further information.
