The U.S. Embassy in Bogota has issued a demonstration alert ahead of planned protests set to begin at 5 a.m. on September 16, 2025, in various areas of the city.

According to the embassy, protest locations include Zona Sur (Autopista Sur with Av. Villavicencio), Zona Centro (Plaza De Bolívar and Carrera 11 with Calle 69), Zona Norte (Calle 95 with Carrera 15), Zona Occidente (Transversal 93 with Calle 51, Patios Álamos), Zona Sur Oriente (Calle 38 a Sur with Carrera 34 D, Centro Mayor), and Zona Noroccidente (Av. Ciudad de Cali with Av. Suba).

The embassy warns that significant traffic disruptions are expected near these areas during the demonstrations.

"The U.S. Embassy recommends U.S. citizens avoid areas around demonstrations, protests, and marches whenever possible. Even peaceful demonstrations have the potential to turn violent without any warning. Please take this into account when traveling."

Officials advise individuals to exercise caution if coming to the embassy, stay alert, be aware of their surroundings and belongings, and monitor local media for updates.

For emergency assistance, individuals are advised to contact Colombian local police at 123 or reach out to the U.S. Embassy in Bogota at +57-1-275-2000 or by email at acsbogota@state.gov.

Further information is available on the embassy's official website: https://co.usembassy.gov/.
