U.S. Department of State East Asian and Pacific Affairs Senior Bureau Official Kevin Kim visited Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 10 to 11. During his visit, Kim held meetings with senior Indonesian government officials and representatives from the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the United States and Indonesia in areas such as trade, business, energy, and emerging technology.

The meetings are part of ongoing efforts to support both the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the U.S.-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. These partnerships aim to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific region that is secure and prosperous.

Kim met with Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto as well as Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Umar Hadi, who also serves as Indonesia’s representative to the United Nations. He also engaged with members of the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council during his stay in Jakarta.

“These engagements underscore the U.S. commitment to both the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the U.S.-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which support a shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region that is secure and prosperous,” according to the State Department release.
