Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Deputy Director-General Angela Ellard of the World Trade Organization (WTO) met with a delegation from the United States Congress. The meeting was part of a non-official visit organized under the TransAtlantic Capital to Capital Exchange programme, in collaboration with the Ripon Society and Franklin Center for Global Policy Exchange.

"It was great to engage with the Representatives, to understand better the concerns of their constituents, and to brief them on the challenges and opportunities facing the organization and global trade," DG Okonjo-Iweala said. "The dialogue was constructive and a welcome sign of USA leadership and engagement with the WTO.”

The discussion provided an opportunity for WTO leaders to share perspectives on current issues affecting international trade and allowed U.S. lawmakers to express concerns from their districts.
