The Young Trade Leaders Programme, launched in 2024, aims to engage young people with the work of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Over the past year, participants have developed trade expertise and organized activities focusing on key trade issues. They have also highlighted emerging trade priorities for youth.

The Director-General acknowledged their contributions and encouraged them to continue engaging at all levels as they advance in their careers. She urged them to share their knowledge with new participants and help build a global network of enthusiastic young trade leaders.

A report titled "Global Youth Consultations Report on Trade" was issued by the group. It summarizes regional consultations led by the 2024 WTO Young Trade Leaders, where over 100 young individuals from six continents shared their priorities and recommendations for international trade policy.

Despite differences in geographical and socio-economic backgrounds among participants, a common theme emerged: trade can address global challenges.

The Young Trade Leaders Programme seeks to foster understanding of the WTO's work among youth.
