The World Trade Organization (WTO) has released a new edition of the World Tariff Profiles. This publication provides summary tables listing the average "bound" (maximum) tariffs and applied tariffs for each economy for both agricultural and non-agricultural products as of the end of 2024. Each economy's one-page profiles offer more detailed tariff data broken down by product groups based on the WTO's Multilateral Trade Negotiations categories, which is the product classification system used by the WTO for trade statistics and policy analysis. The publication also shows the tariffs imposed on exports by main trading partners. Summaries of import and export tariffs for each economy are provided, complemented by statistics on non-tariff measures by economy and product group.
This year's special topic is "Global trade on most-favoured-nation (MFN) terms," a fundamental element of the multilateral trading system. The study finds that the MFN principle, whereby all trading partners are treated equally, is instrumental in promoting stability in world trade. MFN trade shares vary significantly across economies and product groups, but approximately 74% of global trade is still conducted on MFN terms as of May 2025, despite recent trade tensions.
French and Spanish editions will be available for download in August.
The new data are also available in the WTO STATS portal.
