The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has announced the opening of applications for the 2026-2027 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), this program offers scholarships to early-career Bangladeshi educational professionals in fields such as English language, American studies, journalism, media, literature, and Bengali language instruction.
The nine-month non-degree program allows participants to teach Bengali at U.S. higher education institutions while enhancing their professional skills and English proficiency. Participants will engage with American and international students through teaching and cultural exchange activities.
Eligibility criteria include being a teacher with no more than seven years of university-level experience, holding a four-year bachelor's degree from a Bangladeshi institution, not having a degree from or being enrolled in a U.S. institution, fluency in English, and possessing a valid TOEFL or IELTS score. Applicants must be Bangladeshi citizens residing in Bangladesh at the time of application.
Applicants are required to submit an online application along with academic transcripts, three recommendation letters, and valid TOEFL/IELTS scores if available. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2025.
