The U.S. Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, has concluded a two-day visit to the provinces of Coclé and Veraguas. During his visit, he engaged with government officials and business leaders and inaugurated a pedestrian bridge in El Nanzal, Soná, located in Veraguas.

The newly inaugurated pedestrian bridge was funded by the U.S. Southern Command’s Humanitarian Assistance Program alongside Panama’s Ministry of Public Works. Over the past 20 years, the United States has contributed $57 million through this program for various humanitarian projects including health facilities, schools, medical care and equipment, as well as search and rescue and disaster preparedness training.

Ambassador Cabrera highlighted the significance of the bridge during its inauguration: “This pedestrian bridge will allow students from the El Nanzal community to get to school safely without the danger of crossing the river. Never again will a family have to worry whether their child arrived safely at school.”

Additionally, the U.S. Embassy provided backpacks to students in La Florecita and Los Hatillos communities within Santiago district. Responding to local requests in Veraguas, the U.S. Southern Command is also aiding efforts for comprehensive water quality testing aimed at addressing health and safety concerns.

Ambassador Cabrera plans regular visits across various provinces as part of ongoing initiatives to enhance commercial ties and security cooperation between Panama and the United States. Under President Trump's leadership, these efforts are focused on promoting shared prosperity and ensuring greater safety for both nations.
