On May 6, the U.S. Embassy's security and agriculture offices collaborated with the Algerian gendarmerie to conduct a virtual seminar focused on food security and food defense. The event featured presentations from representatives of several U.S. departments, including Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Justice. These presenters shared insights into how the United States develops policies and actions to safeguard its food supply against emerging global challenges.

The seminar was attended by participants from various Algerian entities such as the gendarmerie, DGSN (Directorate General for National Security), Customs, and ministries of Defense, Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment, Health, and Commerce. The organizers expressed enthusiasm for continued collaboration on this critical issue.

"We are excited for future collaboration on this important topic," they stated.
