U.S. Marine Corps General Michael Langley, the Commander of U.S. Africa Command, visited Algeria on January 22, 2025. During this visit, he signed a Military Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Algerian Ministry of National Defense.

The MOU was signed alongside General Saïd Chanegriha, the Algerian Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff to the National People's Army. This agreement signifies a shared commitment between the United States and Algeria to enhance regional and international peace and stability through strategic dialogue.

U.S. Africa Command is one of eleven combatant commands under the U.S. Department of Defense, overseeing an area that includes 53 African states. It addresses transnational threats, supports security forces, and manages crises across a continent rich in ethnic diversity, languages, natural resources, and extensive coastlines.
