U.S. Marine Corps General Michael Langley, Commander of U.S. Africa Command, visited Algeria on January 22, 2025. During this visit, he signed a Military Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Algerian Ministry of National Defense. The signing was conducted alongside General Saïd Chanegriha, the Algerian Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff to the National People's Army.

This agreement between the United States and Algeria reflects a shared commitment to enhancing regional and international peace and stability through strategic dialogue. U.S. Africa Command is one of eleven combatant commands under the U.S. Department of Defense, covering 53 African states. Its responsibilities include countering transnational threats, strengthening security forces, and responding to crises across a diverse continent rich in natural resources.
