U.S. Ambassador Elizabeth Moore Aubin and Algeria's Minister of Energy Mohamed Arkab have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation on climate action. The agreement, representing the United States Department of State and Algeria's Ministry of Energy, focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane.

Methane is identified as a significant contributor to climate change. Through this MOU, both nations aim to curb emissions by identifying their sources, sharing information and technology, and fostering collaboration among government bodies, academic institutions, research centers, and private companies.

“I am proud that Algeria and the United States will be working together to take environmental stewardship to the next level,” stated U.S. Ambassador Elizabeth Moore Aubin.

The MOU signifies ongoing scientific and technical collaboration between the two countries, emphasizing their mutual commitment to addressing climate change challenges.
