Y. Robert Ewing Deputy Chief of Mission | U.S. Embassy in The Philippines

In the first week of implementing the "Missing Documents, No Visa Interview" policy, the U.S. Embassy's Immigrant Visa Unit observed a notable increase in immigrant visa applicants arriving at their interviews with all necessary documents. These applicants experienced more efficient interview processes, with many receiving visa approvals on the same day and expecting to receive their visas within two weeks.

Applicants with upcoming immigrant visa appointments are advised to carefully review the document checklist and instructions. Those who are not fully prepared will need to reschedule their appointments and gather all required documents before being interviewed.

The required documents include:

- Passport (valid for at least 60 days beyond intended travel date)

- Original Civil Documents (e.g., certificates of birth, death, marriage, Certificate of No Marriage or CENOMAR, Advisory of Marriages, and proof of termination of any marriage)

- Original Philippine Police Clearance (National Bureau of Investigation or NBI) for applicants aged 16 and above

- Foreign Police Certificate (for any country where the visa applicant worked or lived for 12 months or more)

- Affidavit of Support (I-864) and financial/tax documents from petitioner/joint sponsor

- DS-260 Confirmation Page

- Interview Appointment Letter

Additional required documents may include:

- NBI AKA for applicants with aliases or nicknames appearing on public documents

- Petitioner's original birth certificate for applicants being petitioned by their son/daughter or a sibling

- Original proof of termination of marriage for applicants with a previous marriage
