Osman “Oz” Tat has assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena, Chad. His career with the U.S. Department of State began in 2003, where he initially served as the Desk Officer for Bangladeshi Affairs in Washington, DC.
Tat's diplomatic experience includes assignments in Beijing, Dakar, Kabul, Addis Ababa, Lagos, and at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. Between 2023 and 2024, he pursued a master’s degree in National Security Strategy. Following his studies, he took on the position of Acting Office Director within the Conflict and Stabilization Bureau’s Africa and Near Eastern Affairs office.
Tat arrived in N’Djamena to begin his new role in May 2025.
