Kristin K. Hawkins Consul General | U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan

The U.S. Mission to Pakistan has issued a security alert following reports of military strikes by India into Pakistan. The situation is evolving, and the mission is monitoring developments closely. U.S. citizens are reminded of the "Do Not Travel" advisory for areas near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control due to terrorism and potential armed conflict. Additionally, there is a "Reconsider Travel" advisory for Pakistan generally.

Airspace closures have resulted in numerous flight cancellations. U.S. citizens are advised to leave areas of active conflict if possible or shelter in place if relocation is not feasible. Updates will be provided through the embassy's messaging system, and enrollment in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is encouraged.

U.S. citizens should exercise caution, review personal security plans, monitor local media, maintain a low profile, carry identification, and cooperate with authorities as necessary.
