U.S. Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Ambassador Matthew Murray, is set to visit Japan and the Republic of Korea in May 2025. His itinerary includes stops in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka from May 5 to May 11. During this period, Ambassador Murray aims to promote public-private collaboration and highlight economic security efforts between the United States and Japan. Additionally, he will engage with key APEC partners at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Following his engagements in Japan, Ambassador Murray will proceed to Jeju, Republic of Korea. From May 11 to May 17, he will attend the Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) and related meetings as part of the APEC Korea 2025 host year. The United States intends to leverage these meetings to advance its "America First Foreign, Trade, and Investment Policies." Collaboration is expected with senior government officials, business leaders, and other stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region.
