ANZ Bank has announced the reopening of the majority of its branches in Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales following the aftermath of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Out of the 55 locations closed last Thursday and Friday, 37 have resumed operations. Approximately 130 ATMs are back in service, and the bank is prepared to deploy mobile ATMs if needed.

Cameron Home, ANZ General Manager of the Australian Branch Network, stated, “We are pleased that the majority of our branches are able to reopen today, so we can continue to support our customers with their banking needs."

Home added that efforts are underway to reopen the remaining branches safely. He advised customers to check the status, opening hours, and services of their local branches on the ANZ website, noting that the ANZ App and Internet Banking are also available for various banking needs.

“While Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has continued to reduce in severity, we know its effects will continue to be felt for some time,” Home said. The bank is ready to move pre-deployed mobile ATMs to severely impacted areas, particularly those with prolonged power and telecommunications issues.

ANZ activated a relief package on March 5, 2025, for customers potentially affected by the cyclone. Home encouraged impacted customers to reach out to the bank early for assistance. Those with ANZ Home and Contents Insurance might qualify for emergency support.

“We will continue to assess the situation over the coming days, so we can continue supporting our customers and staff as the impacts continue to be felt,” Home concluded.

The relief package provides short-term payment relief on various loans and waives fees for business loan restructuring and early access to term deposits. ANZ customers can visit their website or contact support services for assistance and more information.

Customers with insurance claims can reach out via phone or online to begin their submission process. The bank emphasizes the availability of its digital banking services for most customer needs during this period.
