Sun Life U.S. and the Boston Celtics have completed their 11th annual Fit to Win program, aimed at engaging children in fitness and healthy habits. The program concluded with an event at the Dorchester YMCA, where Celtics forward Torrey Craig participated in activities with local kids. This initiative is a partnership with the YMCA of Greater Boston and focuses on exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness over four weeks.
Neil Haynes, CFO of Sun Life and board member of the YMCA of Greater Boston, emphasized the importance of empowering children to live healthier lives: "We are committed to helping people live healthier lives, and empowering children to do that for themselves sets them up for success later in life." He also highlighted the collaboration with the Celtics as a cornerstone of community engagement.
The longstanding partnership between Sun Life and the Boston Celtics extends beyond Fit to Win. They also conduct an annual fundraiser called #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes each November, benefiting the YMCA's Healthy Habits program.
Ted Dalton, chief partnership officer for the Boston Celtics, expressed support for these initiatives: "We enjoy working with Sun Life and the YMCA of Greater Boston and fully support their commitment to the Greater Boston community, a core principle of the Boston Celtics organization."
Since its inception, more than 2,500 children have participated in Fit to Win. The program aims to equip kids with knowledge about healthy living that they can share with their families. Recently, Sun Life expanded its team partnership to include activities with the Maine Celtics. A clinic was held at Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine in February as part of this expansion.
