DDG Ellard highlights business role in strengthening global trade system

DDG Ellard, during her visit to Japan, emphasized the broad scope of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) work, which includes services, digital trade, intellectual property, standards, and trade facilitation. She highlighted the risks associated with a fragmented trading system and advocated for enhanced multilateral cooperation.

Ellard stressed the importance of WTO members pursuing meaningful reforms and revitalizing negotiations. She acknowledged Keidanren's significant role in supporting a robust multilateral trading system and efforts to reform the WTO.

Keidanren is an organization representing over 1,500 companies and more than 100 nationwide industrial associations in Japan.
