The United States has announced a new visa restriction policy aimed at foreign officials who facilitate illegal migration into the country. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed this measure, which targets government officials such as immigration and customs officers, airport and port authority personnel, and others believed to be responsible for knowingly enabling illegal immigration.

Rubio emphasized the importance of securing national borders to enhance America's safety and prosperity. "Countries along migratory routes must do their part to prevent and deter the transit of aliens seeking to illegally enter the United States," he stated. The policy is intended to hold accountable those who fail to enforce immigration laws or implement policies that facilitate illegal entry via the U.S. southwest border.

This initiative complements an existing policy expanded in 2024, known as the 3C policy, which addresses private sector actors providing services primarily for illegal migrants traveling to the U.S. These measures will remain in place until responsible officials ensure effective enforcement of laws preventing such transit.

The visa restrictions are enacted under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, allowing the Secretary of State to deem any alien inadmissible if their entry could have serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the U.S. Certain family members may also be affected by these restrictions.

"America will not back down when it comes to defending our national security interests," Rubio affirmed.
