The embassies of Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the Delegation of the European Union, have expressed their concern over ongoing hostilities in Upper Nile State. These hostilities have resulted in significant loss of life. The diplomatic missions are also troubled by reports of detentions involving senior military and civilian officials.
In a collective statement, these entities aligned themselves with IGAD counterparts to advocate for an immediate cessation of hostilities. They urge all involved parties and their affiliates to exercise maximum restraint. The statement further calls on leaders based in Juba to demonstrate their commitment to peaceful dialogue and prioritize the interests of the South Sudanese people.
