A demonstration is set to take place near the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on February 28, 2025. The protest is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Menara See Hoy Chan building, located at 374, Jalan Tun Razak.
The U.S. Embassy has advised American citizens to stay informed through local media updates and does not expect any disruption to its routine services during this time. However, starting at noon on February 28, the embassy's main entrance will be closed to pedestrian traffic until the demonstration concludes.
Although there is currently no indication that the protest will turn violent, the embassy cautions that "the nature of protests can change quickly and with little warning." It also reminds non-Malaysians that participating in demonstrations in Malaysia is illegal.
U.S. citizens are urged to avoid areas where demonstrators gather, steer clear of crowds and demonstrations, and remain aware of their surroundings.
