The U.S. Embassy in Colombia has announced that representatives from the Regional Federal Benefits Unit will visit several cities to provide services related to U.S. Social Security and other federal benefits. The cities included in this initiative are Bogotá, Cali, Medellín, and Pereira.

In Medellín, the service will be available at Centro Colombo Americano located at Carrera 45 #53-24 from March 10th to March 13th, 2025. In Bogotá, services will be offered at Centro Colombo Americano on Calle 98 No. 17-32 during the same dates. Residents of Cali can access services at Centro Colombo Americano on Calle 13 Norte No 8-45, Barrio Granada. Similarly, Pereira's residents can visit Centro Colombo Americano at Carrera 6 #23-58, Biblioteca, piso 5.

Service hours for all locations are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day. Attendees do not need to schedule an appointment as the service will operate on a first come, first served basis. Visitors are reminded to bring original documents along with photocopies.

Those wishing to submit their Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire SSA 7162/7161 form can drop it off during service hours without needing an appointment.

For preparation purposes, individuals should note that "FBU will accept the 'proof of life' forms" mailed this year to specific recipients based on their Social Security Number ending digits and registered mailing address in Colombia.

Applicants for Social Security benefits should bring both original and copy of their birth certificate and U.S. passport. If applying for auxiliary or survivor’s benefits as a spouse of a deceased beneficiary, marriage and death certificates must also be presented.

For those seeking a Social Security Number Card application, necessary documents include an original and copy of the birth certificate and U.S. passport along with completed form SS-5FS.
