Applications are now open for a global workshop focusing on the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) 2012. The workshop aims to enhance participants' understanding of government procurement, international trade, development, and good governance with an emphasis on the GPA 2012.
The event will introduce attendees to the GPA 2012 and recent developments in government procurement. It will also cover the WTO Committee on Government Procurement and explore how the GPA 2012 aligns with other international instruments and free trade agreements. Participants will learn about the benefits and challenges of joining the GPA 2012, including accession procedures, flexibilities for developing economies, and observer status in the Committee.
Key topics include implementing the GPA 2012, involving small and medium-sized enterprises in government procurement markets, preventing corrupt practices, domestic review procedures, e-procurement, and sustainable procurement.
The workshop will be conducted in English, French, and Spanish—the three official languages of the WTO.
The target audience includes government officials from WTO members and observers eligible for WTO training activities. Applicants should have policy responsibility or experience in trade or government procurement policy matters. Proficiency in one of the workshop's working languages is required. Completing the WTO e-learning course on GPA 2012 objectives, rules, and operations is advantageous.
