Barclays has announced the appointment of two senior executives to bolster its Corporate Bank in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. Vijay Shankar U.S. joins as Managing Director, Head of Global Transaction Banking for APAC and ME, while Amaar Khan takes on the role of Managing Director, CIO & Head of Corporate Banking Technology for the same regions. Both will be based in Singapore.
Vijay Shankar will focus on expanding the Global Transaction Banking business by collaborating with technology and operations teams to enhance client relationships. He will report to Karen Braithwaite, Global Head of Transaction Banking, and Pushkaraj Gumaste, Head of Corporate Banking for APAC & ME.
Amaar Khan is tasked with developing a technology roadmap and working closely with the International Corporate Bank to enhance product capabilities and drive growth across APAC & ME. He reports to Saket Sharma, CIO Corporate Bank.

Vijay Shankar brings over 38 years of experience in transaction banking across Asia Pacific, having previously served as Executive Director at ANZ Bank where he established transaction banking across Asia. His career also includes roles at Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank.
Amaar Khan has over 27 years of experience in technology, having led transformation projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining Barclays, he was Managing Director, Chief Information Officer, and Head of Engineering for APAC at Bank of New York (BNY). His previous positions include roles at Bank of Singapore, Standard Chartered, Citi, and Credit Suisse.
Barclays continues its strategic expansion in Asia Pacific with recent key hires including Yoichi Takemura as Head of Japan Macro Trading and Paul Johnson as Head of Equities for Asia Pacific.
