Rubio discusses trade and regional issues with Vietnam's foreign minister

Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a conversation with Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. The discussion marked the 30th anniversary of U.S.-Vietnam relations, highlighting advancements under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Spokesperson Tammy Bruce reported that Secretary Rubio addressed regional issues, notably China's assertive actions in the South China Sea. In addition to discussing economic cooperation, he urged Vietnam to tackle trade imbalances.

Secretary Rubio also extended his best wishes for Tet and a prosperous new year to Foreign Minister Son.
