The leaders of the United States, Egypt, and Qatar have issued a joint statement urging immediate action to bring relief to the people of Gaza and to secure the release of hostages. They emphasized that it is time to finalize the ceasefire and release deal.
The statement highlighted that their teams have been working for months on a framework agreement, which is now ready except for implementation details. This agreement follows principles outlined by President Biden on May 31, 2024, and has been endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2735.
The leaders stressed that there should be no further delays or excuses from any party. "It is time to release the hostages, begin the ceasefire, and implement this agreement," they stated.
They also expressed readiness to present a final bridging proposal if necessary to resolve remaining issues in a way that satisfies all parties involved.
Both sides have been urged to resume discussions urgently on Thursday, August 15 in Doha or Cairo to address outstanding issues and begin implementing the deal without further delay.
This call for action was made by President Joe Biden of the United States, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, and Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar.
