Marco Rubio, the newly appointed Secretary of State, has outlined the priorities and mission for the second Trump administration's Department of State. In a recent statement, Rubio emphasized that his role as America's 72nd Secretary of State is "the highest honor" of his professional life. He highlighted President Trump's directive to focus on America's core national interests in foreign policy decisions.

Rubio posed three guiding questions for all actions taken by the department: "Does it make America safer? Does it make America stronger? Does it make America more prosperous?" To achieve these goals, he stated that the State Department will become more innovative and focused, which may involve altering some priorities and practices.

A key focus will be on curbing mass migration and securing borders. Rubio declared that "the State Department will no longer undertake any activities that facilitate or encourage mass migration." Diplomatic efforts with other countries, particularly in the Western Hemisphere, will concentrate on border security and repatriation of illegal immigrants.

Rubio also addressed internal government policies by announcing that an executive order from President Trump has eliminated "DEIA" requirements throughout the government. This order will be executed in both letter and spirit within the department.

The Secretary further stressed a return to traditional diplomacy by removing emphasis on political and cultural causes deemed divisive domestically and unpopular internationally. He indicated this shift would allow for pragmatic cooperation with other nations.

On information dissemination, Rubio called for an end to censorship while maintaining efforts against malign propaganda. The department aims to uphold Americans' rights to free speech while promoting truth about America's virtues.

Lastly, Rubio mentioned leveraging strengths by discarding climate policies perceived as weakening America. While not ignoring environmental threats, diplomacy will support President Trump's vision for American energy dominance.

Rubio concluded by affirming that under Trump's agenda, the State Department will prioritize American national interests amidst global power dynamics. The goal remains to empower diplomats to enhance America's safety, strength, and prosperity.
