Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations, held a meeting with Japan’s National Security Advisor Takeo Akiba. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation at the UN, including efforts involving the Republic of Korea.

The meeting also addressed concerns about North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. "They discussed plans to strengthen cooperation at the UN, including trilaterally with the Republic of Korea," according to Nate Evans, spokesperson for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

Both parties emphasized maintaining close coordination in response to North Korea's ongoing human rights violations and its increasing military collaboration with Russia. This collaboration is reportedly in violation of several UN Security Council resolutions.

Additionally, they talked about the situation in the Middle East and reiterated their countries' support for Ukraine's sovereignty.
