Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Representative to the United Nations, held a meeting with Republic of Korea National Security Adviser Chang Ho-jin. During their discussion, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed gratitude for South Korea's leadership on the global stage and its ongoing trilateral cooperation with the United States and Japan, both within and beyond the United Nations Security Council.
Both officials voiced concerns over North Korea's unlawful activities and the growing military collaboration between North Korea and Russia. They deliberated on potential steps to ensure continued independent and credible reporting on North Korean sanctions violations and evasion efforts. This conversation followed Russia's veto on March 28 regarding the renewal of the 1718 Panel of Experts mandate.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield also acknowledged South Korea's commitment to supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia's actions, as well as its firm stance against Iranian aggression.
