U.S. Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jonathan Greenert visited Alexandria from July 11 to 13, reaffirming the United States' commitment to its partnership with Egypt and enhancing regional security. During his visit, Admiral Greenert met with Rear Admiral Ossama Monier Rabie, Commander in Chief of Egyptian Naval Forces, to discuss cooperation between the U.S. and Egyptian navies, security concerns, and interoperability.

While at Abu Qir Naval Base, Admiral Greenert toured the Fast Missile Craft that were delivered by the United States to the Egyptian military on June 17. The four vessels represent a $1.1 billion investment by the United States in their strategic partnership with Egypt and are intended to enhance maritime patrol capabilities.

"I'm in Egypt to build a stronger relationship with my counterpart Rear Admiral Ossama," said Greenert. "I was honored to meet him and his staff today and visit several Egyptian Navy ships in Alexandria."

Admiral Greenert expressed that these visits provided valuable insights into the operations of the Egyptian Navy. He also looked forward to discussing further collaboration opportunities between the U.S. and Egyptian naval forces.

Before touring the Fast Missile Craft, Admiral Greenert visited one of four ex-Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates transferred by the U.S. to Egypt in the late 1990s. He concluded his visit by attending an iftar in Alexandria with both Egyptian and American Navy personnel.

Admiral Greenert holds a senior position as a four-star admiral responsible for command and operational efficiency within the U.S. Navy under directives from the Secretary of the Navy. As part of his duties, he serves as a principal adviser on naval matters to both the President and Secretary of Defense.
