The United States has expressed strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that occurred at St Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo. The incident, which took place on December 11, resulted in the deaths of more than 25 people and left dozens injured.
In response to the attack, Secretary Kerry communicated with Egypt's Foreign Minister Shoukry. During their conversation, Kerry extended condolences to the families affected by the tragedy and wished a swift recovery for those injured.
"The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack today on Christian worshippers outside St Mark’s Cathedral in Cairo that has killed more than 25 people and injured dozens more," stated John Kirby, Assistant Secretary and Department Spokesperson for the Bureau of Public Affairs.
Kirby further emphasized that "the United States will continue to stand with the people of Egypt as they face threats from terrorist organizations and work to achieve a stable, secure, and prosperous future."
This statement underscores ongoing U.S. support for Egypt amidst challenges posed by terrorism.
