Cairo is set to host New York-based Theater Mitu at the Cairo International Festival of Contemporary and Experimental Theatre (CifCet), in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. The performances are scheduled for September 27th and 28th at El Hanager Theatre, starting at 8:00 PM. Attendance is free, with guests encouraged to arrive an hour early.

Theater Mitu has been active globally for over two decades, exploring performance traditions, forming artistic partnerships, conducting workshops, and producing new works in New York City. Their previous visits to Egypt include participation in CifCet in 2010 and a presentation of "Juárez: A Documentary Mythology" in 2016. The company also boasts significant experience across the Middle East and North Africa.

This year, Theater Mitu will present Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman," following its successful run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The invitation to perform at CifCet marks a continuation of their engagement with Egyptian audiences.

Additionally, two other American theater companies will feature during CifCet. Performance Space 122 will present "Go Forth" at El Ghad Theatre on September 27th and 28th at 6:00 PM. Laguardia Performing Arts Center will showcase "Privatopia" at El Hanager Theatre on September 24th and 25th at 8:00 PM.

These cultural events highlight ongoing collaborations between the United States and Egypt. More information can be found on the U.S. Embassy's website or social media channels.
