Cairo – The U.S. Mission in Egypt is marking Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) by contributing to the growth of Egypt’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, particularly focusing on young people. From November 12-18, various activities such as talks, workshops, and lectures will be available across Egypt. Venues include Cairo's Maadi Public Library American Corner and Greek Campus, the American Center at U.S. Embassy Cairo, Alexandria’s Jesuit Cultural Center, Bibliotheca Alexandria, and Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, along with several locations in Upper Egypt. The topics covered will range from business development for entrepreneurs to personal branding, e-commerce, social entrepreneurship, and ideation.

Deputy Chief of the U.S. Mission Dorothy Shea stated: “Hundreds of startups have been launched all over Egypt—some receiving worldwide recognition. The U.S. government is committed to supporting this spirit of innovation by helping entrepreneurs hone the skills they need to be successful.”

The U.S. Embassy supports entrepreneurship through exchange programs based both in Egypt and the U.S., working closely with partners in both countries to promote a culture of entrepreneurship and small-business development aimed at strengthening the Egyptian economy and creating jobs. Additionally, the Embassy facilitates Egyptian entrepreneurship by organizing job fairs, Maker Fairs, technology training sessions, and business skill seminars. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) also contributes significantly through its Workforce Improvement and Skills Development program and Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development initiatives.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is now in its eleventh year and highlights the U.S. government's commitment to promoting international entrepreneurship as a strategy to foster growth opportunities and enhance global prosperity.
