The U.S. Mission to Ecuador has announced a funding opportunity aimed at promoting democratic values among the youth in Ecuador. The initiative, titled "Democracy Projects for Ecuadorian Youth," invites individuals, organizations, and alumni to submit proposals that focus on engaging young people across various regions of Ecuador, including the coast, highlands, and Amazon.
The program seeks innovative projects that promote democratic principles through civic education and communication strategies. Eligible applicants include registered not-for-profit organizations, local grassroots groups such as self-help associations and youth groups, individuals, and alumni of U.S. government-funded programs.
To be considered for funding, all organizations must be fully registered on NCAGE and SAM.gov. The source of funding is the FY2024 Public Diplomacy Funding from the U.S. Embassy in Quito and the U.S. Consulate General in Guayaquil.
Projects are expected to run for up to one year from the time an award is granted, with a maximum of three projects funded at $30,000 each. The anticipated start date for programs is before September 30, 2024.
Applicants are encouraged to creatively address themes related to democratic values and civic responsibility. There is no specific format required for applications; however, they should include detailed project descriptions, timelines, budgets, monitoring plans, sustainability plans, communication strategies, and an American component.
Applications will be evaluated based on completeness, coherence, clarity, attention to detail, program methods and design, timeline feasibility, budget justification, monitoring plans, sustainability strategies after project completion and communication plans.
All proposals must be submitted by June 28th via email to Contactocultural@state.gov with “2024 Notice of Funding Opportunity for Democracy Projects” in the subject line.
For further details regarding registration requirements or assistance with NCAGE or SAM.gov registrations can be found online or by contacting relevant support services.
