The U.S. Embassy and the Malta College of Arts, Science, and Technology (MCAST) have formalized a partnership to introduce the Fulbright Specialist Program at MCAST. The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by Clifton Grima, Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation; U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ken Toko; Horace Laudi, President of the Board of Governors of MCAST; and Stephen Vella, Principal and CEO of MCAST.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen academic ties between the United States and Malta. The Fulbright Specialist Program is designed to connect American academics and professionals with international institutions for collaborative projects that promote knowledge sharing and long-term cooperation.

At the event, Ken Toko highlighted the importance of the Fulbright Program in fostering understanding between nations. He stated, “Fulbright participants are more than scholars—they are ambassadors of mutual understanding, building people-to-people ties that complement and expand upon the efforts of our governments. Fulbright alumni, both Maltese and American, play a pivotal role in strengthening the already excellent bilateral relationship between our nations.”

Minister Grima expressed optimism about what this collaboration means for MCAST’s students and faculty. “This collaboration is a testament to the strong ties between Malta and the United States. It will provide MCAST students and faculty with unique opportunities to engage with leading American experts and contribute to global academic advancements,” he said.

The introduction of this program at MCAST is seen as an important step in supporting academic excellence and expanding opportunities for international exchange.
