KfW has announced a new step in its plan to promote climate-friendly heating systems. As of November 27, 2024, private owners of multi-occupancy buildings and housing associations can digitally submit the necessary evidence for grant disbursement through KfW's customer portal. This development is part of KfW's ongoing promotional roadmap.
Once the required documents are submitted and verified by KfW, the grant funds will be transferred to the recipient's bank account. "This usually takes place before the end of the month following the review of the evidence provided," according to KfW.
The promotional funds are available for all customers who have received a grant commitment from KfW for heating system replacement. They must complete their projects within 36 months from receiving this commitment and then submit digital evidence for disbursement.
Looking ahead, KfW plans to extend this digital submission process in March 2025 to include companies handling residential and non-residential buildings, as well as owners of rented properties within condominium associations. Municipalities that pre-registered projects earlier this year can now also apply via the customer portal, with evidence submissions expected by June 2025.
By mid-next year, KfW aims to offer a fully digital and largely automated online process for all customer groups—private, commercial, and municipal—for applying, committing, submitting, and reviewing evidence related to heating system promotions.
