The European Union has initiated a dispute complaint against China concerning duties imposed on brandy. The EU argues that these measures seem to contradict several provisions of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Anti-Dumping Agreement.

This action marks the beginning of a formal dispute process within the WTO framework. The initial step, known as a request for consultations, allows both parties to engage in discussions aimed at resolving the issue without resorting to litigation. Should these consultations not yield a resolution within 60 days, the complainant has the option to seek adjudication by a panel.
