ANZ has announced the appointment of Maria Milosavljevic as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). She will report to Gerard Florian, Group Executive Technology and Group Services. Dr. Milosavljevic is set to join ANZ from her current role as the inaugural Chief Data Integration Officer at the Australian Government's Department of Defence.
Her career includes significant positions such as CISO and Chief Data Officer at Services Australia and the first Government CISO for New South Wales, where she established a government-wide cyber security function.
In her new role at ANZ, Dr. Milosavljevic will oversee the bank's information security strategy, focusing on addressing cyber security challenges and supporting digital transformation efforts.
Gerard Florian praised her appointment: “Maria is an outstanding and innovative leader and expert in cyber security, with a breadth of experience across data and security in both government and the private sector."
He further added, "She has a track record of building and running cyber, data and analytics operations and brings to ANZ wide and deep connections with the cyber security community locally and internationally. Maria’s experience will be invaluable in continuing to protect both ANZ and our customers.”
Dr. Milosavljevic takes over from Lynwen Connick, who will retire in October after six years as ANZ’s CISO. Mr. Florian acknowledged Connick's contributions: “Lynwen has had a significant impact on the bank over the past six years. Her cybersecurity expertise has been a tremendous asset for both ANZ and our customers at a time of great change in the industry, and we wish her continued success in her retirement.”
Dr. Milosavljevic will begin her tenure at ANZ on August 28, 2023.
