DHAKA, May 02, 2024 – The World Bank has initiated a training program titled 'PostPro TalentLab' aimed at providing aspiring professionals in Bangladesh with the necessary skills for post-production jobs in the film and content-making industry, both locally and internationally.

Abdoulaye Seck, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan, expressed optimism about the potential of Bangladesh in the global post-production industry, stating, “With our large youth population, Bangladesh has a promising future in the global post-production industry, if supported by the right skills set and policies.”

The program, designed to equip participants with skills in editing, special effects, color correction, and sound mixing, aims to tap into Bangladesh's growing film and content industry, which has the potential to reach $2 billion annually. This growth is expected to be driven by earnings from both domestic and global markets, including the rise of streaming services and modern movie theaters.

Eun Joo Allison Yi, World Bank Senior Environmental Specialist, highlighted the broader impact of the workshop, stating, “This workshop not only engages local talent with cutting-edge skills but also invests in green industries, supporting the development of new growth drivers for the nation.”

The training program, funded by the Korea-World Bank Partnership Facility (KWPF) trust fund, will focus on providing hands-on training in various post-production topics such as color grading, sound design, and editing. The initiative aims to not only enhance the skills of participants but also promote green practices within the industry.

Yoko Nagashima, World Bank Senior Education Specialist, emphasized the importance of investing in the youth's green skills, stating, “By investing in the green skills and talents of the country's youth, the World Bank aims to help build a brighter future for generations to come.”

The 'PostPro TalentLab' program is expected to create new job opportunities in the post-production sector in Bangladesh and contribute to the overall growth and innovation of the country's film and content-making industries.
