The American and German packaging companies, with a combined 350 years of expertise, are set to merge. The partnership is expected to bring together the traditions of family business, creativity, innovation, and environmental stewardship. The merger aims to elevate luxury packaging with a focus on environmentally friendly and high-quality products.

Curtis Packaging, established in 1845, specializes in creating luxury packaging for various markets including chocolate, spirits, medical and over-the-counter products as well as golf. According to their website, they also cater to health and beauty brands. Curtis Packaging has developed unique processes that enable them to create standout luxury finishes for their packaging products. The company's journey began with Samuel Curtis in 1845 when he opened a comb and button factory in Candy Hook, Connecticut. By 1920, the company had shifted its focus solely on cartons for packaging - from design to printing. In 2012, Curtis Packaging became the first company to invest in a ScodixS74 Pro Digital Coater machine and five years later installed the first Scodix S6000 at its facility.

"We are thrilled to embark on this journey with H.O.Persiehl. This partnership not only marks a significant milestone in our individual legacies but also demonstrates our shared commitment to delivering excellence in luxury packaging," said Don Droppo, president and CEO of Curtis Packaging.

H.O. Persiehl's history dates back to 1849 when Hermann Otto Persiehl founded a paper shop in Hamburg. By 1900, the company had grown significantly with 260 employees on board. In 1962 it expanded by opening a location in Norderstedt which was expanded twice by 1975. In addition to its web offset unit, H.O.Persiehl developed digital prepress services in 2001 along with two hot foil stamping machines. Now fully located in Norderstedt after taking over Wanfried-Druck Kalden GmbH in 2013, the company expanded the Norderstedt site. By 2022, they had acquired a specialist in multipacks for the beverage industry in Bremen and Kolbe-Coloco, a specialist printing company in Versmold, East Westphalia among others, according to the company’s history page.

"Our collaboration with Curtis Packaging is a testament to the enduring values that have defined both our companies for over a century. Together, we look forward to setting new standards in luxury packaging, blending tradition with innovation," said Mortiz Persiehl, managing director of H.O. Persiehl, in the Jan. 23 news release.
