San Francisco-based Wag! Group, operators of the Wag! app which helps pet owners find local dog walkers, pet sitters, training and more, is expanding its pet care services to an international audience. Petted International will help pet owners in Canada with their pet insurance options, Business Wire reported Aug. 8.

“We’re thrilled to finally be able to offer Petted’s invaluable pet health tools to pet parents in Canada,” Wag! Chief Marketing Officer Patrick McCarthy said to Business Wire. “The Canadian market is one we’re excited about because of how increasingly important the relationship is between Canadian pet parents, their furry family members and their veterinarians.”

Access to Petted International will offer customers the ability to compare the best value pet insurance brands in Canada, read detailed reviews of pet insurance companies and purchase for the lowest price guaranteed, with no credit check, according to the release.

With insurance already secured for 500,000 Canadian pets, the platform hopes to contribute to a record projected Canadian pet insurance industry growth rate of 7.4% between 2021 and 2027, suggested by Insurance Business. Through the expansion, the company also hopes to fulfill the increasing demands of veterinary services, the release reported.

“Wag! Group Co. strives to be the #1 platform for busy Pet Parents,” the release reported. “The Wag! app offers access to five-star dog walking, sitting and one-on-one training from its community of 450,000 pet caregivers nationwide.”

The platform offers on-demand access to pet insurance comparison tools, such as five-star pet care, pet insurance options, premium pet products and expert pet advice. Petted, acquired by Wag! in 2022, helps operate insurance platforms for Forbes, U.S. News, USA Today and Business Insider, according to the release.

In addition to Petted, it also operates Dog Food Advisor for dog food reviews, maxbone for modern pet essentials and Furmacy software to simplify pet prescriptions, the release reported.
